Alexis Benne
HR Consultant / Co-Founder

Alexis has over 15 years working as an HR Professional in a variety of industries as a consultant and within corporate and non-profit settings. In her current venture as the HR Consultant and Co-Founder of Athena HR Consulting alongside Bev Morris, Alexis hopes to continue advancing the HR profession and helping businesses reach their goals.

Previously, she served as the Senior HR Generalist at Coca-Cola Bottling Company High Country where she led a number of company-wide initiatives. Most notably, the initiative for the HIRE Vets Medallion Program which was awarded for 2021 and had only been awarded to one other company in South Dakota. Alexis was also instrumental in assisting the Director of HR in developing a dynamic HR team, providing leadership and direction in all aspects of human resources. Prior to Coke, Alexis served as the Human Resources Director for Youth and Family Services (YFS), a non-profit agency that serves youth to adult in education and support services throughout the Black Hills. YFS benefited from Alexis’ skillset as she successfully led several agency-wide initiatives including implementation of a Leadership Program and application of an electronic documentation management system.

 

Alexis holds a Master’s degree in Industrial-Organizational Psychology as well as Bachelor’s in Psychology, and maintains a SHRM-CP certification. She has been active in the Black Hills Society for Human Resources Management (BHSHRM), for which she served in the Chapter President and Past-President roles. Alexis has excellent problem solving, teamwork, relationship building, and leadership skills. She has demonstrated success with project management, employee relations, benefits administration, HRIS and HR technology platforms, internal ‘HR’ and external audits, leader development, performance management, policy development, research, and data analysis.

 

Alexis possesses a servant leadership philosophy in her HR work. This management and leadership style focuses on the team’s growth and well-being and putting others' needs first. She feels this is important in business as it creates a work environment in

which employees at all levels of an organization feel respected, appreciated, and valued.

 

Those who have worked with Alexis describe her as “easy to work with and a problem solver who has the ability to look at all sides of a situation and predict various outcomes allowing her to work with others to determine the best course of action.”

 

Alexis grew up in a small town in Northeastern Montana where she embraced the connectiveness of a close community. Since moving to Rapid City she has continued to be connected to her community through her professional network, close family and friends, and volunteering in her children’s schools and sports organizations. She enjoys traveling with her husband and cheering her kids on in their various activities.
